Tragic-Daddy

A little less than a month ago, my computer was returned to me safe and sound. A week later, it wasted no time in screwing itself up again. Now, the CD drive won't work, and shortly after that happened, the AC adapter shut down. Now I have a repacement AC (which I got in the mail just after the original started working again), but the CD drive's still giving me crap. So, here's what's gonna happen tomorrow: I'm gonna go to Best Buy, and either they'll have a good deal on external drives, or I'll just be shipping my laptop off again to get fixed... again. Computer's are hard. To opperate, to fix, and most of all to understand. Long story short, it took 2 weeks to fix the laptop (all it needed was a new motherboard, thank goodness), and another week to figure out how to get the internet in my room to work. Even now things are slow, as my dorm connection has shown no signs of improvement in the time I've been away. It's by no means bad, mind you, and certainly preferable to nothing at all, but slow all the same. I have for some time taken my computer's Safe Mode for granted. Now, however, it is proving to be most invaluable, as over the past week my computer has been quite uncooperative indeed. Almost every time I try to start it up, the screen stays blank, and when it does, it is usually followed quickly by freeze up and crash. With Safe Mode, however, I am at least able to get online, though I still lack such luxuries as sound or printing (so yeah, no art for a while longer). Tomorrow I'm taking my laptop to Best-Buy for a full diagnostic, which should take about 5 days but could take a week or longer. I probably would have left it when I went up
